Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2–3 tablespoons flour
- 1 1/2 cups half & half (or milk)
Instructions
- Heat the Oil: In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil.
- Cook the Garlic: Add the minced garlic and cook for about 3 minutes, until fragrant.
- Add Flour and Seasonings: Stir in 2 tablespoons of flour, dried oregano, ground black pepper, and salt. Whisk well to combine.
- Incorporate Half & Half: Pour in the half & half all at once, whisking constantly. Cook and stir until the mixture becomes bubbly and thickens, usually about 3 minutes.
- Adjust Thickness: If the sauce is too thin, mix the remaining 1 tablespoon of flour with a bit of milk until it reaches a mashed potato consistency. Stir this mixture into the sauce and cook for about 1 more minute, whisking constantly. Repeat if necessary until you achieve your desired thickness.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, you can add additional flour mixed with milk as needed.
- Adjust seasonings to taste; add more salt, pepper, or herbs if desired.
