Description

Chicken Bellagio is a delicious Italian-inspired dish featuring crispy chicken breasts topped with savory prosciutto and a rich, creamy marinara sauce. Perfect for family dinners or special occasions!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 slices prosciutto
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare chicken: Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness. In a shallow dish, combine flour, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Dredge the chicken breasts in the flour mixture.
  • Coat chicken: In a separate dish, beat the eggs. Dip the floured chicken breasts into the beaten eggs, then coat in breadcrumbs.
  • Cook chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken breasts until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  • Add prosciutto: Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. Add the prosciutto slices to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until crisp.
  • Make sauce: Pour marinara sauce and heavy cream into the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  • Assemble: Place the cooked chicken breasts on a plate. Top with the prosciutto and the creamy sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour and breadcrumbs with gluten-free alternatives.
  • You can use homemade marinara sauce for a more personalized flavor.
