Description

These Air Fryer Apple Chips with Cinnamon Sugar are the perfect healthy yet indulgent snack! With just a few ingredients and minimal prep time, these crispy, lightly sweetened apple chips are made in the air fryer, offering a crunchy treat without the added oil. A great alternative to store-bought chips and perfect for satisfying your snack cravings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (any variety, such as Fuji or Granny Smith)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Using a mandolin slicer or sharp knife, slice the apples very thinly (about 1/8 inch thick). Remove the core and seeds if desired.
  2. Make the cinnamon sugar: In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt (if using).
  3. Coat the apple slices: Lay the apple slices on a clean surface and lightly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over both sides of the apple slices. You can also toss them in a bowl to coat them evenly.
  4. Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Air fry the apple chips: Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t overlapping too much (you may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer). Cook the apple slices for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
  6. Cool and serve: Once done, remove the apple chips from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. They will crisp up even more as they cool. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Notes

  • Use a mandolin slicer to get even, thin slices that cook evenly.
  • For a healthier version, skip the sugar and simply season the apple slices with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  • If you prefer a bit of extra sweetness, drizzle a little honey or maple syrup over the chips after they are done air frying.
  • The cook time may vary based on the thickness of your apple slices and the type of air fryer.
  • You can also experiment with other spices like nutmeg or cloves for different flavors.
