Description

These Air Fryer Churro Apple Pie Bombs are a delightful combination of warm, gooey apple pie filling, a soft center, and a crispy churro-like coating. Perfectly made in the air fryer for a crispy exterior without all the oil. Enjoy these sweet treats for dessert, a snack, or even as a fun party appetizer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 1/2 cup apple pie filling, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for added sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: Start by chopping up the apple pie filling into small pieces to make it easier to stuff into the biscuit dough. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the biscuits: Open the can of refrigerated biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit using your hands or a rolling pin until it’s about 3-4 inches in diameter.
  3. Fill the dough: Spoon about 1-2 teaspoons of the chopped apple pie filling into the center of each biscuit. Carefully fold the edges of the dough around the filling to seal the biscuit into a ball. Pinch the edges together tightly so the filling doesn’t escape while cooking.
  4. Prepare the churro coating: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  5. Brush with butter: Brush each apple pie bomb with melted butter to help the cinnamon-sugar coating stick.
  6. Air fry: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Place the apple pie bombs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between them. Cook for 6-8 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on the outside. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  7. Coat with cinnamon-sugar: Once the apple pie bombs are done cooking, remove them from the air fryer and immediately roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
  8. Serve: Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgence!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a sprinkle of brown sugar on top of the cinnamon-sugar mixture for a caramelized touch.
  • Make sure to pinch the dough tightly to prevent the apple pie filling from leaking out during cooking.
  • You can also experiment with other pie fillings, like cherry or blueberry, for a fun twist.
