Description

Air Fryer Crab Cakes are a healthier and less messy alternative to traditional fried crab cakes. These golden, crispy crab cakes are flavored with Parmesan cheese, fresh green onions, and Cajun seasonings, making them perfect for an appetizer, side dish, or light main course.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces lump crab meat
  • ⅓ cup plain breadcrumbs
  • ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ⅓ cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced red bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mixture:
    • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, green onions, beaten egg, red bell pepper, chopped parsley, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and Old Bay seasoning.
    • Gently fold the mixture until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Form the Patties:
    • Divide the mixture into 8 patties. Place the patties on a small baking sheet or another flat, food-safe surface.
    • Refrigerate the patties for at least 1 hour to help them hold their shape during cooking.
  • Air Fry the Crab Cakes:
    • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a sheet of parchment paper to fit the bottom of the air fryer basket. Do not place the parchment paper in the basket before preheating.
    • Remove the air fryer basket and place the parchment paper inside. Lightly spray the parchment paper with cooking oil.
    • Carefully add the crab cakes to the basket and lightly spritz the tops with cooking oil.
    • Air fry the crab cakes for about 16 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time.
  • Serve:
    • Allow the crab cakes to cool slightly before serving.
    • Enjoy your crispy, flavorful crab cakes!

Notes

  • Cucumber Liquid: Save the liquid from the cucumber for a refreshing drink or to add to cocktails.
  • Yoghurt Consistency: Greek yoghurt is preferred for its thicker texture, but regular yoghurt can be used with proper draining.
  • Herb Substitutes: Fresh mint or parsley can be used instead of dill for a different flavor.
