Ingredients
-
4 cups cubed day-old bread (French bread, sourdough, or any bread of choice)
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
-
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
-
1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
-
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
-
Optional: Grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor
Instructions
-
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large mixing bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
-
Place the seasoned bread cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer).
-
Air fry for 5-6 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking, until the croutons are golden brown and crispy.
-
Remove the croutons from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly before serving. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese while they’re still hot.
-
Serve over your favorite soup or salad, or enjoy as a snack.
Notes
-
For a different flavor, you can experiment with other herbs like thyme, rosemary, or parsley.
-
If you prefer your croutons extra crispy, you can cook them for an additional minute or two, but be careful not to burn them.
-
You can store these croutons in an airtight container for up to a week.
