  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the applesauce, sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the walnuts and raisins, if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
