Description

Amish Country Casserole is a comforting, hearty dish that combines ground beef, egg noodles, and a creamy blend of tomato and mushroom soups, all baked to perfection and topped with Parmesan cheese. This easy-to-make casserole is perfect for family dinners, providing a filling and satisfying meal with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12-ounce bag medium egg noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 10.75-ounce can tomato soup
  • 10.5-ounce can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons dried onion flakes
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Cook the Noodles:
Cook the egg noodles according to the package directions. Once done, drain the noodles well and set aside.
  • Brown the Beef:
In a large skillet, cook and crumble the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Drain any excess grease.
  • Make the Sauce:
In a large bowl, stir together the tomato soup, cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and dried onion flakes.
  • Combine and Bake:
Stir in the cooked egg noodles and browned ground beef, mixing well. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake:
Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbling.
  • Top with Parmesan:
Remove from the oven and top with the grated Parmesan cheese. Bake for an additional 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
  • Serve:
Serve with garlic bread and a side salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute lean ground turkey for the ground beef for a lighter version of the casserole.
  • Add extra vegetables, such as chopped bell peppers or spinach, to increase the nutritional value of the dish.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add shredded cheddar cheese on top along with the Parmesan cheese.
  • This casserole can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days before baking.
