Ingredients
- Ground Beef: 1 1/2 pounds
- Garlic Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Onion Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt and Pepper: to taste
- Milk: 2 cups, divided
- All-Purpose Flour: 1/4 cup
- Russet Potatoes: 4-5 medium, thinly sliced
- Onion: 1 medium, thinly sliced
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese: 1 cup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch dish.
- Season the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; form into 6 patties.
- Brown the patties in a skillet over medium heat and set aside.
- In the same skillet, whisk 1 cup of milk with flour, then add the remaining milk to form a gravy.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes and onions in the prepared dish, top with the browned patties, then add the remaining potatoes, onions, and gravy.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour. Uncover, add the cheese, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding herbs such as thyme or rosemary to the gravy.
- Use leftover mashed potatoes if you prefer a different texture.
