Description

This hearty Amish Sunday Savior Casserole is the perfect comfort food for a family meal. Loaded with meat, potatoes, and a creamy sauce, it’s sure to become a family favorite.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking beef)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes evenly on the bottom.
  6. Spread the beef mixture over the potatoes.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and casserole is bubbly.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • If you prefer, you can use frozen hash browns instead of fresh potatoes.
  • Feel free to swap out the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
