Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans (15 oz each) baked beans
- 1/2 cup apple cider
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled (optional, for added flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the baked beans, apple cider, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, molasses, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Add in the diced onion and crumbled bacon (if using).
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish, and cover with foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to allow the beans to thicken and get a golden color on top.
- Let the beans cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- If you prefer a more savory flavor, you can add extra bacon or even a touch of Worcestershire sauce.
- Adjust the sweetness by increasing or decreasing the brown sugar or molasses, depending on your taste preferences.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon without compromising on flavor.
