Description

These Apple Cider Baked Beans are a sweet and tangy twist on a classic dish. With a mix of apple cider, molasses, and aromatic spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cloves, these beans are a comforting addition to any meal. Perfect for barbecues, winter meals, and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) baked beans
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled (optional, for added flavor)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the baked beans, apple cider, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, molasses, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  • Add in the diced onion and crumbled bacon (if using).
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish, and cover with foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  • After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to allow the beans to thicken and get a golden color on top.
  • Let the beans cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • If you prefer a more savory flavor, you can add extra bacon or even a touch of Worcestershire sauce.
  • Adjust the sweetness by increasing or decreasing the brown sugar or molasses, depending on your taste preferences.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon without compromising on flavor.
