Description

These Apple & Cranberry Dog Dental Sticks are a healthy and chewy treat designed to help clean your dog’s teeth while providing a tasty, nutrient-rich snack. Packed with antioxidants and fiber, they’re perfect for keeping your pup’s mouth healthy and their tail wagging!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup finely grated apple (peeled, core removed)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped unsweetened dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup oat flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for added moisture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the grated apple, chopped cranberries, egg, and coconut oil (if using). Stir until evenly mixed.
    • Gradually add the oat flour and rolled oats, stirring until a sticky dough forms. If the dough feels too wet, add more oat flour one tablespoon at a time.
  3. Shape the Dental Sticks:
    • Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into stick shapes about 4-5 inches long and 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Bake:
    • Place the sticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until firm and lightly golden. For a crunchier texture, reduce the oven temperature to 250°F (120°C) and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  5. Cool Completely:
    1. Allow the dental sticks to cool completely on a wire rack before giving them to your dog.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
  • Make sure to use unsweetened dried cranberries to avoid added sugars.
  • Adjust the size of the sticks based on your dog’s size; smaller dogs may need shorter sticks.
