Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Taco Shells:
    • 6 small flour tortillas
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • For the Apple Filling:
    • 4 large apples (Granny Smith or your favorite variety), peeled, cored, and diced
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • For Serving:
    • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
    • Caramel sauce for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the Cinnamon-Sugar Taco Shells:
    • Preheat your oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC).
    • Combine the sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
    • Brush both sides of each flour tortilla with melted butter, then dip them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well-coated.
    • Fold each tortilla over a thick wooden spoon handle or a baking rack bar to create a taco shape. Place them on a baking sheet.
    • Bake for 7-9 minutes or until golden and crispy. Let them cool completely.
  • Prepare the Apple Filling:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
    • Add the diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
    • Cook for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and the sauce is thick and caramel-like. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Assemble the Apple Pie Tacos:
    • Spoon the warm apple filling into each cinnamon-sugar taco shell.
    • Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
    • Drizzle with caramel sauce for an extra touch of decadence, if desired.
  • Serve & Enjoy:
    • Serve the Apple Pie Tacos immediately while the shells are crispy and the filling is warm. These are best enjoyed fresh!
