Description

This Avocado Jalapeño Dip combines the creamy richness of ripe avocados with the perfect kick of fresh jalapeños. It’s a zesty, smooth dip that pairs wonderfully with tortilla chips, veggies, or as a topping for your favorite Mexican dishes. Easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
  • 12 fresh jalapeños, seeds removed (for less heat, or leave seeds for more spice)
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lime juice (about 1/2 lime)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, mash the avocados using a fork or potato masher until smooth but still slightly chunky (or mash to your preferred texture).
    • Finely chop the jalapeños (remove the seeds for less heat) and add them to the mashed avocado.
  2. Mix in the Veggies:
    • Add the chopped red onion, diced tomato, and cilantro to the bowl with the mashed avocado.
    • Sprinkle in the garlic powder, lime juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.
  3. Taste and Adjust:
    • Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more lime juice, salt, or pepper to suit your preferences. For more heat, add another jalapeño or some hot sauce.
  4. Chill (optional):
    • If you have time, cover the dip with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour to allow the flavors to meld together. This step is optional, but it enhances the flavor!
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the Avocado Jalapeño Dip immediately with tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled meats.

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, you can add a couple of tablespoons of sour cream or Greek yogurt.
  • If you prefer a smoother dip, you can use a food processor to blend everything together.
  • You can adjust the number of jalapeños based on your heat preference. Remove the seeds and ribs for a milder flavor.
