Ingredients
Scale
- 2 medium baguettes
- 1/2 lb deli turkey slices (roasted or smoked)
- 1 cup shredded or sliced mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Dijon mustard (optional, for spreading)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Baguettes:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut each baguette lengthwise, but don’t slice all the way through—leave a hinge on one side to create a pocket for the filling. Remove a bit of the inner bread if needed to make more room for the turkey and cheese. - Assemble the Filling:
Spread mayonnaise or Dijon mustard on the inside of the baguette halves, if desired. Layer turkey slices inside the baguette, followed by the mozzarella cheese. Be generous with the cheese for a gooey filling! - Season and Prep for Baking:
In a small bowl, mix olive oil or melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Brush this seasoned mixture generously over the top of the stuffed baguettes. - Bake:
Place the stuffed baguettes on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, and the baguettes are golden and crispy. - Serve:
Remove from the oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes. Sprinkle with fresh parsley for garnish, if desired. Slice into portions and serve warm.
Notes
- Variations: Swap the turkey for chicken or ham, or add extra fillings like spinach, tomatoes, or bell peppers for added flavor.
- Cheese Choices: You can use provolone, cheddar, or another melting cheese for a different twist.
- Make Ahead: You can assemble the baguettes ahead of time, cover them, and store in the fridge until you’re ready to bake.
