This Baked Brie in a Bread Bowl combines creamy Brie cheese with tart cranberry sauce and aromatic thyme, all encased in a warm, crusty sourdough loaf. Itβs a perfect appetizer for gatherings and will impress your guests with its delightful flavors and beautiful presentation.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 round loaf of sourdough or similar bread
- 1 wheel of Brie cheese (about 8 oz)
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce
- 2β3 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
- Olive oil, for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
- Prepare the Bread Bowl: Cut off the top of the bread loaf and hollow out the inside to create a bowl, leaving enough bread around the edges to support the filling. Be careful not to cut through the bottom or sides.
- Add the Brie: Place the Brie wheel inside the hollowed-out bread bowl. Spread the cranberry sauce over the top of the Brie and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves. Drizzle with honey if you want extra sweetness.
- Brush with Olive Oil: Lightly brush the outer edges of the bread bowl with olive oil to ensure a golden, crispy crust.
- Bake: Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the Brie is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with the bread pieces you scooped out or additional crackers for dipping.
Notes
- You can use Camembert as an alternative to Brie for a slightly different flavor.
- This dish is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge and reheated gently.
