Description

These Baked Cinnamon Sugar Donuts offer a soft, cakey texture with a warm cinnamon sugar coating. They’re easy to make and perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup whole milk (or your preferred milk)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan with nonstick spray or butter.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
  • In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Spoon the batter into a piping bag or a resealable plastic bag with the tip cut off for easier filling. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
  • Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, melt the butter.
  • Once the donuts are slightly cooled, lightly brush each donut with melted butter, then dip or sprinkle them in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
  • Serve your Baked Cinnamon Sugar Donuts warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
  • Ensure not to overmix the batter to keep the donuts light and fluffy.
