Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 2/3 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze, optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze, optional)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan with non-stick spray or lightly butter it. - Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using). - Mix the Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. - Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. - Fill the Donut Pan:
Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about ¾ of the way full. You can also use a piping bag to fill the pan more neatly. - Bake the Donuts:
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. - Cool the Donuts:
Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. - Make the Glaze (Optional):
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 1-2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze or drizzle it over them. - Serve:
Enjoy your baked donuts as they are or top with sprinkles, chocolate chips, or a dusting of cinnamon sugar!
Notes
- You can add chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit to the batter for extra flavor.
- For a healthier version, substitute half of the flour with whole wheat flour or add a bit of applesauce to reduce the amount of butter.
- The donuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days, or frozen for longer storage.
