Description

A quick and flavorful dish featuring large shrimp baked in a zesty garlic butter sauce with fresh lemon juice and a hint of heat. Perfect for a weeknight meal or an impressive appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tail-on or off)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the shrimp: Spread the peeled and deveined shrimp in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Make the garlic lemon butter sauce: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well mixed.
  • Coat the shrimp: Pour the garlic lemon butter sauce evenly over the shrimp, ensuring all shrimp are coated.
  • Bake the shrimp: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and cooked through (shrimp should reach an internal temperature of 145°F).
  • Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley. Serve the shrimp hot with extra lemon wedges for squeezing on top.

Notes

  • For Extra Spice: Increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • Creamy Version: Add a bit of heavy cream to the sauce before baking for a richer flavor.
