- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef or Italian sausage until browned. Drain any excess grease, then stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Layer Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix cooked spaghetti with ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Spread half of the spaghetti mixture in the baking dish, layer with half of the meat sauce, and repeat layers.
- Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly. For a golden top, remove foil and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish and Serve: Let cool for 5 minutes, garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired, and serve warm.
