Description

Baklava Bites are a delightful mini version of the classic dessert, packed with the rich flavors of honey, cinnamon, and crunchy pistachios, all wrapped in layers of flaky phyllo dough. Perfect for a sweet treat or party appetizer!


Ingredients

  • 1 package phyllo dough (about 20 sheets), thawed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup pistachios, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling:
    • In a bowl, combine the chopped pistachios, walnuts (if using), ground cinnamon, and sugar. Set aside.
  • Prepare the Phyllo Dough:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Brush a mini muffin tin with some of the melted butter.
    • Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with butter. Layer another sheet on top, brushing with butter again. Repeat this process until you have about 6-7 layers of dough.
  • Assemble the Baklava Bites:
    • Cut the stacked phyllo dough into 12 equal squares (or as many as needed to fit in the muffin tin).
    • Place each square in a muffin cup, pressing down gently to form a cup shape.
    • Spoon about 1-2 teaspoons of the pistachio mixture into each phyllo cup.
  • Bake the Baklava Bites:
    • Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the phyllo dough is golden and crispy.
  • Make the Honey Syrup:
    • While the baklava bites are baking, combine the honey, water, and lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium heat.
    • Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes until the syrup thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Finish the Baklava Bites:
    • When the baklava bites are done baking, remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.
    • Spoon the warm honey syrup over the baklava bites, making sure each one is coated with the syrup.
  • Serve:
    • Let the baklava bites cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute the pistachios with almonds or cashews for a different flavor.
  • For a more decadent touch, drizzle extra honey on top before serving.
