  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ΒΌ teaspoon salt
  • Β½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Β½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Β½ cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tablespoon lemon juice/vinegar as a substitute)

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • Β½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3–4 cups powdered sugar (adjust to desired sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2–3 tablespoons heavy cream (optional for a smoother consistency)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan:
    • Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
    • Grease and lightly flour a 9Γ—13-inch baking pan.
  • Make the Cake Batter:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
    • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
    • Gradually mix in the mashed bananas.
    • Alternate adding the flour mixture and buttermilk to the banana mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Bake the Cake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
    • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Let the cake cool completely in the pan before frosting.
