Description

These Banana Deep Fried Oreos are a fun and indulgent twist on the classic fair treat. Imagine crispy, golden batter surrounding a warm, gooey Oreo cookie with the added sweetness of a banana. It’s the perfect combination of crunch and creaminess, and a must-try for any Oreo fan or deep-fried dessert lover!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box Oreo Cookies (regular or double stuff)
  • 2 medium Ripe Bananas
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil (for frying)
  • Powdered Sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bananas:
    • Peel the bananas and slice them into about 1/4-inch thick rounds. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
    • Add the milk, vanilla extract, and egg, and whisk until the batter is smooth and well combined. The batter should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon but not too runny.
  3. Heat the Oil:
    • In a large, deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. You want the oil to reach about 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, drop a small spoonful of batter into the oil—if it bubbles and rises to the surface quickly, the oil is ready.
  4. Assemble the Banana Deep Fried Oreos:
    • Take one Oreo cookie and place a slice of banana on top of it. Gently press the banana into the cookie.
    • Dip the assembled Oreo and banana into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
    • Carefully lower the battered Oreo into the hot oil, one at a time. Don’t overcrowd the pan to avoid lowering the oil temperature.
  5. Fry the Oreos:
    • Fry the Oreos for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to turn them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
    • Once golden, remove the deep-fried Oreos from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve and Dust with Powdered Sugar:
    • Let the deep-fried Oreos cool for a minute, then dust them with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness. Serve immediately while they’re still warm and crispy.

Notes

  • You can add a drizzle of chocolate sauce or caramel sauce over the deep-fried Oreos for an extra indulgent treat.
  • If you prefer, you can substitute bananas with other fruits like strawberries or even marshmallows for a fun twist.
  • Be cautious when frying; always keep an eye on the oil temperature and avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even cooking.
