Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box Oreo Cookies (regular or double stuff)
- 2 medium Ripe Bananas
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 1 tbsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
- 1 cup Milk (whole or 2%)
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 large Egg
- 2 cups Vegetable Oil (for frying)
- Powdered Sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bananas:
- Peel the bananas and slice them into about 1/4-inch thick rounds. Set aside.
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
- Add the milk, vanilla extract, and egg, and whisk until the batter is smooth and well combined. The batter should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon but not too runny.
- Heat the Oil:
- In a large, deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. You want the oil to reach about 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, drop a small spoonful of batter into the oil—if it bubbles and rises to the surface quickly, the oil is ready.
- Assemble the Banana Deep Fried Oreos:
- Take one Oreo cookie and place a slice of banana on top of it. Gently press the banana into the cookie.
- Dip the assembled Oreo and banana into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Carefully lower the battered Oreo into the hot oil, one at a time. Don’t overcrowd the pan to avoid lowering the oil temperature.
- Fry the Oreos:
- Fry the Oreos for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to turn them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Once golden, remove the deep-fried Oreos from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve and Dust with Powdered Sugar:
- Let the deep-fried Oreos cool for a minute, then dust them with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness. Serve immediately while they’re still warm and crispy.
Notes
- You can add a drizzle of chocolate sauce or caramel sauce over the deep-fried Oreos for an extra indulgent treat.
- If you prefer, you can substitute bananas with other fruits like strawberries or even marshmallows for a fun twist.
- Be cautious when frying; always keep an eye on the oil temperature and avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even cooking.
