Description

Beef Gravy Potatoes are the ultimate comfort food โ€” tender chunks of potato smothered in rich, savory beef gravy. Perfect as a hearty side dish or a cozy main course with a sprinkle of fresh herbs!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil diced potatoes in salted water for 8โ€“10 minutes, or until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sautรฉ until onions are soft and translucent.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture. Stir and cook for 1โ€“2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring. Add Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3โ€“5 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Gently stir the cooked potatoes into the beef gravy. Let everything simmer together for another 2โ€“3 minutes so the flavors meld.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve hot!

Notes

  • For extra richness, stir in a tablespoon of butter at the end.
  • You can swap ground beef with leftover roast beef for even deeper flavor.
  • Great topped with shredded cheese or a dollop of sour cream!
