These Best Christmas Stuffed Mushrooms are the ultimate holiday appetizer, perfect for your Christmas feast. With a savory filling of cream cheese, garlic, herbs, and a touch of Parmesan, these stuffed mushrooms are bursting with flavor. They’re an easy, crowd-pleasing dish that will impress your guests!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Stuffed Mushrooms:

  • 16 large white mushrooms (stems removed, cleaned)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves, chopped (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs (optional for crunch)
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped green onions (optional)

For Topping (Optional):

  • Extra Parmesan cheese for sprinkling
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mushrooms:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
    • Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and remove the stems. Set the mushroom caps aside.

    2. Make the filling:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, melted butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, thyme (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well-combined.
    • If using, mix in breadcrumbs to give the filling extra texture.

    3. Stuff the mushrooms:

    • Spoon the cream cheese mixture into each mushroom cap, pressing gently to pack the filling.
    • Arrange the stuffed mushrooms on the prepared baking sheet.

    4. Bake:

    • Bake the stuffed mushrooms in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the filling is golden brown on top.

    5. Garnish and serve:

    • Sprinkle the baked mushrooms with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley for garnish.
    • Serve warm as an appetizer or side dish for your Christmas celebration.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can replace the cream cheese with ricotta cheese or Greek yogurt.
  • You can make the stuffed mushrooms ahead of time by prepping them and refrigerating them until you’re ready to bake. Just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
  • For a more decadent version, top the stuffed mushrooms with crumbled bacon or prosciutto before baking.
