- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 can (10 3/4 oz.) tomato soup
- 1 can of water (use the empty tomato soup can)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- Sugar to taste
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients in a large pot, ensuring that the ground beef is broken up and evenly mixed with the sauce ingredients.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the chili simmer for 1 hour. Stir occasionally.
- After simmering, the chili will have thickened and the flavors will have melded together.
- Serve hot over burgers, hotdogs, or fries. You can also store leftovers in airtight containers for future meals.
Notes
- Feel free to double the recipe to have extra chili for later. It freezes well, making it a convenient topping for future meals.
- Adjust the sweetness of the chili by adding sugar to taste. Start with a small amount and increase it until you reach your desired sweetness.
- For a spicier kick, add extra chili powder or some cayenne pepper.
- This chili can also be used in nachos, baked potatoes, or as a standalone dish with cornbread on the side.
