Description

This Blackberry Basil Balsamic Brie with Sweetened Pecans is the ultimate savory-sweet appetizer! Creamy, melty brie is topped with fresh blackberries, aromatic basil, a drizzle of balsamic glaze, and crunchy, sweetened pecans. Perfect for entertaining, this dish is a delightful mix of flavors and textures that everyone will love!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brie:

  • 1 wheel of brie cheese (8 oz)
  • 1/4 cup fresh blackberries
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)

For the Sweetened Pecans:

  • 1/2 cup pecan halves
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sweetened Pecans:
    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    2. In a small bowl, combine the pecan halves, maple syrup (or honey), cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir to coat the pecans evenly.
    3. Spread the pecans in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    4. Roast for 8-10 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the pecans are golden brown and fragrant. Remove from the oven and let them cool.

Prepare the Brie: 5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the wheel of brie on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a small baking dish. 6. Bake the brie for 8-10 minutes, or until it is soft and the center is gooey (you can test by gently pressing on the top of the brie). 7. Remove from the oven and allow the brie to cool slightly.

Assemble the Dish: 8. Once the brie has cooled slightly, top with fresh blackberries and chopped basil. 9. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the top of the brie. 10. Sprinkle the sweetened pecans over the brie for a crunchy, flavorful topping. 11. Serve with sliced baguette, crackers, or fruit for dipping.

Notes

  • You can make this dish ahead of time by roasting the pecans and assembling the brie with the blackberries and basil just before serving.
  • If you prefer a stronger balsamic flavor, you can reduce the balsamic glaze by simmering it on the stove for a few minutes until it thickens.
  • Feel free to add a drizzle of honey for extra sweetness, if desired.
