Description
Blue Cheese Stuffed Pears are an elegant appetizer or light dessert that perfectly balances the sweetness of ripe pears with the bold flavor of blue cheese, finished with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of toasted nuts for added texture and richness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe pears, halved and cored
- 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 2 tbsp honey, plus extra for drizzling
- 1/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts or pecans
- Freshly ground black pepper (optional)
- Fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place pear halves cut-side up in a baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix the blue cheese and 2 tbsp honey.
- Spoon the blue cheese mixture into the center of each pear half.
- Sprinkle chopped toasted nuts over the top of each filled pear.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until pears are tender and cheese is slightly melted.
- Drizzle with additional honey before serving and garnish with black pepper or fresh thyme if desired.
Notes
- Use slightly underripe pears to avoid them becoming too soft during baking.
- For a stronger flavor, use Roquefort or Gorgonzola instead of regular blue cheese.
- This dish can also be served chilled for a refreshing summer appetizer.
