Description

This Blueberry Cream Cheese Frosting is a deliciously smooth and tangy frosting with a burst of sweet blueberry flavor. Perfect for cupcakes, cakes, or any baked goods, this frosting adds a fruity twist to your favorite desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries (if using frozen, thaw and drain them)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, for added tang)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
  2. In a separate small bowl, mash the blueberries with a fork or potato masher until they release their juices. If you want a smoother consistency, you can blend them in a food processor.
  3. Gradually add the mashed blueberries, vanilla extract, and lemon juice (if using) to the cream cheese mixture. Beat until fully incorporated.
  4. Slowly add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating until the frosting is smooth and fluffy. If the frosting is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk at a time until it reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Once the frosting is ready, spread it on cooled cakes or cupcakes. Store any leftover frosting in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • For an extra burst of blueberry flavor, you can add a tablespoon of blueberry jam or preserves.
  • If you prefer a smoother frosting, strain the blueberry puree to remove any skins before adding it to the cream cheese mixture.
  • This frosting can be used for cakes, cupcakes, or as a topping for pancakes and waffles.
