Description
This Blueberry Cream Cheese Frosting is a deliciously smooth and tangy frosting with a burst of sweet blueberry flavor. Perfect for cupcakes, cakes, or any baked goods, this frosting adds a fruity twist to your favorite desserts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries (if using frozen, thaw and drain them)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, for added tang)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate small bowl, mash the blueberries with a fork or potato masher until they release their juices. If you want a smoother consistency, you can blend them in a food processor.
- Gradually add the mashed blueberries, vanilla extract, and lemon juice (if using) to the cream cheese mixture. Beat until fully incorporated.
- Slowly add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating until the frosting is smooth and fluffy. If the frosting is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk at a time until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Once the frosting is ready, spread it on cooled cakes or cupcakes. Store any leftover frosting in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Notes
- For an extra burst of blueberry flavor, you can add a tablespoon of blueberry jam or preserves.
- If you prefer a smoother frosting, strain the blueberry puree to remove any skins before adding it to the cream cheese mixture.
- This frosting can be used for cakes, cupcakes, or as a topping for pancakes and waffles.
