Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup blueberry jam
  • Purple food coloring (optional)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. 1️⃣ Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

2️⃣ Cream the Butter and Sugars:
In a large mixing bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.

    3️⃣ Add the Blueberry Flavor:
Stir in the blueberry jam until fully incorporated. For a pop of color, add a few drops of purple food coloring (optional).

4️⃣ Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.

    5️⃣ Chill the Dough:
Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

    6️⃣ Shape and Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
Sprinkle the tops with a bit of granulated sugar for a sparkling finish.

    7️⃣ Bake and Cool:
Bake the cookies for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers appear slightly soft.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra burst of blueberry flavor, you can add some chopped dried blueberries to the dough.
  • The purple food coloring is optional but adds a fun, whimsical touch to the cookies.
  • Ensure the dough is well-chilled before baking to prevent the cookies from spreading too much.
