Description

Bok Choy with Ginger Chili Sauce is a vibrant and nutritious dish featuring tender bok choy sautéed and topped with a spicy, aromatic ginger chili sauce. It’s a perfect side to complement Asian-inspired meals or a light, healthy main.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb bok choy, washed and halved or quartered lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 12 teaspoons chili paste or chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bok Choy: Trim the base and wash the bok choy thoroughly. Cut lengthwise into halves or quarters.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger; sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Cook Bok Choy: Add bok choy to the skillet, tossing to coat. Cook for 3-4 minutes until leaves are wilted and stems are tender-crisp.
  4. Add Sauce: Stir in chili paste, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and sesame oil. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring to evenly coat bok choy.
  5. Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust chili quantity based on your preferred spice level.
  • For extra heat, add a splash of chili oil or fresh sliced chili peppers.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or noodles.
