Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup bone broth (beef or chicken)
- 1 cup whole milk or dairy-free milk (almond, coconut, etc.)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
- Whipped cream or marshmallows for topping (optional)
- Cinnamon or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, heat the bone broth over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Be careful not to let it come to a boil.
- Add the milk, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Whisk continuously until the cocoa powder is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth and heated through.
- Once everything is combined and hot, pour the hot chocolate into a mug.
- Top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired, and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your nourishing, cozy hot chocolate!
Notes
- If you prefer a richer drink, you can add more cocoa powder or a splash of heavy cream to make it extra creamy.
- For a dairy-free version, use coconut milk or almond milk, and choose a natural sweetener like maple syrup.
- If you want a more savory twist, try adding a pinch of chili powder or cinnamon to enhance the flavor.
