Description

Buttery Cheesy Basa is a delicious and easy-to-make fish dish. The tender basa fillets are cooked to perfection in a rich, buttery sauce, then topped with melted cheese for an indulgent, comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 basa fillets (about 4 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 lemon, sliced (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Season the basa fillets with salt, pepper, and dried oregano on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Once the butter is melted and sizzling, add the basa fillets and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sautรฉ for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and add the Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses to the skillet. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  5. Return the cooked basa fillets to the skillet and spoon some of the cheesy sauce over the top. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the fish is heated through and the cheese is fully melted.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley and lemon slices. Serve immediately with a side of rice, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • If you prefer a lighter version, you can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or a non-dairy milk such as almond milk.
  • Feel free to use any other white fish fillets, such as tilapia or cod, in place of basa.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice on top of the dish before serving.
