Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • Colored sprinkles or chocolate for decorating

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour and mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe dough into shapes (rosettes, stars, etc.) onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Decorate the cookies with sprinkles if desired, or leave them plain to dip in melted chocolate after baking.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before decorating with chocolate or additional sprinkles if desired.
