Description

This rich and creamy cacao and hazelnut spread is a delightful homemade alternative to store-bought versions. Made with just a few simple ingredients, it’s perfect for spreading on toasted fruit loaf or enjoying as a dip for fresh fruits.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups hazelnuts
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 2/3 cup maple syrup
  • Sliced toasted fruit loaf (for serving)

Instructions

  • Roast hazelnuts: Preheat oven to 160°C (325°F). Spread hazelnuts on a baking tray and roast for 8-10 minutes, or until golden.
  • Remove skins: Place hazelnuts on a clean tea towel and rub to remove skins.
  • Process: In a food processor, combine warm hazelnuts and cacao powder. Process for 4-6 minutes, or until ground.
  • Add maple syrup: While the food processor is running, gradually pour in maple syrup until well combined.
  • Serve: Transfer the spread to a bowl and let it cool. Serve on toasted fruit loaf.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup according to your taste preference.
