Description

This Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Alfredo Pasta is a creamy, flavorful, and spicy dish that brings together succulent shrimp, smoky sausage, and a rich, creamy Alfredo sauce. The Cajun seasoning adds a zesty kick, making this pasta dish a crowd-pleaser. Perfect for dinner parties or a comforting weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the pasta:

  • 1 lb fettuccine or your preferred pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb smoked sausage or andouille sausage, sliced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Alfredo sauce:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until browned and heated through. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the shrimp. Season with Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes per side, until they are pink and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  4. For the Alfredo sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  5. Add the heavy cream and bring it to a simmer. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy. Add the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Add the cooked sausage and shrimp back to the skillet, stirring to combine. Add the cooked pasta and toss everything together until the pasta is coated in the creamy Alfredo sauce.
  8. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat everything through.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, you can add extra Cajun seasoning or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute the sausage with chicken or another protein if you prefer.
  • This dish can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat it gently on the stove over low heat with a splash of cream or milk if it becomes too thick.
  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream and reduce the butter amount.
