Description

This Caprese Garlic Bread combines crispy ciabatta, melted mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, basil, and a balsamic glaze for a delicious appetizer or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf ciabatta bread, horizontally cut in half
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 oz. fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh basil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place both sides of the ciabatta on a large baking sheet with the cut side up.
  2. In a small bowl, mix butter and minced garlic. Spread evenly over the bread halves.
  3. Arrange mozzarella slices on top of the bread, covering completely. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the cheese melts.
  4. While baking, make the balsamic reduction by boiling the vinegar in a small saucepan, then simmering on low until reduced by half (5–7 minutes). Set aside.
  5. Remove bread from the oven. Top with tomato slices, season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with fresh basil.
  6. Drizzle with balsamic reduction, cut into slices, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes before baking.
  • Use heirloom tomatoes for a colorful presentation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best texture.
