Description
This Caprese Garlic Bread combines crispy ciabatta, melted mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, basil, and a balsamic glaze for a delicious appetizer or side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf ciabatta bread, horizontally cut in half
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 12 oz. fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/3 cup chopped fresh basil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place both sides of the ciabatta on a large baking sheet with the cut side up.
- In a small bowl, mix butter and minced garlic. Spread evenly over the bread halves.
- Arrange mozzarella slices on top of the bread, covering completely. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the cheese melts.
- While baking, make the balsamic reduction by boiling the vinegar in a small saucepan, then simmering on low until reduced by half (5–7 minutes). Set aside.
- Remove bread from the oven. Top with tomato slices, season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with fresh basil.
- Drizzle with balsamic reduction, cut into slices, and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes before baking.
- Use heirloom tomatoes for a colorful presentation.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best texture.
