Description

Caprese Skewers are a fresh and vibrant appetizer featuring juicy cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella balls, and aromatic basil leaves. Drizzled with extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic reduction, these skewers offer a simple yet elegant way to enjoy classic Italian flavors. Perfect for summer gatherings or as a light snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 cherry tomatoes (use a mix of colors if possible)
  • 12 mini mozzarella balls (ciliegine)
  • 24 fresh basil leaves
  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
  • Balsamic reduction (or glaze), for drizzling
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Assemble the Skewers: Thread one cherry tomato, a basil leaf (fold it in half if large), and a mozzarella ball onto a mini skewer or toothpick. Add another cherry tomato to each skewer. Continue until all ingredients are used.
  • Season and Drizzle: Arrange the skewers on a serving plate. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic reduction. Sprinkle with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  • Serve: Serve immediately as a fresh and flavorful appetizer.

Notes

  • To keep the basil fresh, assemble the skewers just before serving.
  • If you don’t have balsamic reduction, you can use balsamic vinegar or a balsamic glaze.
