Description

This Caramel Apple Pie is the ultimate cozy dessert—classic apple pie taken to the next level with gooey caramel layered into the filling. With tender apples, warm spices, and a flaky crust, it’s perfect for holidays, family gatherings, or whenever you’re craving fall flavors!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional, dotted on top of filling)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out one pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan.
  2. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Add the caramel sauce and gently stir to combine.
  4. Pour apple mixture into prepared crust and dot with butter if using.
  5. Top with the second crust (whole with slits, or in a lattice pattern). Trim and crimp edges.
  6. Mix egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush over the top crust.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until golden and bubbling. If crust browns too quickly, tent with foil.
  8. Cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Drizzle with extra caramel when serving.

Notes

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for the best flavor.
  • Store leftovers covered at room temp for 2 days or refrigerated for up to 5 days.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a decadent finish.
  • You can make it ahead—just rewarm slices in the microwave or oven.
