Description

This Caramel Apple Puff Pastry is a deliciously easy dessert that combines the sweetness of caramel with the tartness of apples, all wrapped in a flaky, buttery puff pastry. Perfect for fall or anytime you want a sweet treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the Apples: In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apple slices, cinnamon, and brown sugar (if using). Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the apples soften slightly, then remove from heat.

  3. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into squares (about 4-6 depending on desired portion size).

  4. Assemble the Pastries: Place a few apple slices in the center of each puff pastry square. Drizzle with caramel sauce and fold the edges of the pastry over the apples, creating a rustic, open-faced turnover.

  5. Egg Wash: Beat the egg and brush it over the edges of the puff pastry to give it a golden color when baked.

  6. Bake: Bake the pastries for 15-18 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed up.

  7. Garnish and Serve: Drizzle more caramel sauce over the top, and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm for the best experience!

Notes

  • Apples: Granny Smith apples work well for a slightly tart flavor, but you can use any variety you prefer.

  • Caramel Sauce: You can use store-bought caramel sauce for convenience, but homemade caramel sauce can elevate the flavor!

  • Serving Suggestions: Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
