- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 4–5 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Stir until smooth and bubbly, then pour the mixture into the bottom of the prepared cake pan.
- Arrange the peach slices over the caramel mixture in a circular pattern, overlapping slightly. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate large bowl, beat together the granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the cake batter over the peach layer in the pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Invert the cake onto a serving plate, carefully removing the pan. Allow it to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- If you don’t have fresh peaches, you can use canned peaches, but make sure to drain them well before using.
- For extra richness, add a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream when serving.
