Description

Indulge in this decadent Caramel Turtle Poke Cake, featuring a rich chocolate base soaked in sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce, topped with whipped cream, pecans, and mini chocolate chips. Perfect for gatherings or a delightful dessert at home!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 jar (12 oz) caramel topping
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for whipped topping, optional)
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (for whipped topping, optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for whipped topping, optional)

Instructions

  • Bake the Cake
Prepare and bake the chocolate cake according to package instructions in a 9×13-inch baking pan. Once the cake is done, let it cool for about 10 minutes.

  • Poke the Cake
Use the end of a wooden spoon or a similar tool to poke holes all over the cake, about 1 inch apart.

  • Make the Caramel Mixture
In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping in the microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the cooled cake, ensuring it fills the holes. Let it soak in for 10-15 minutes.

  • Add Chocolate & Pecans
Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped pecans evenly over the top of the cake.

  • Prepare Whipped Topping (Optional)
In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped topping over the cake.

  • Chill & Serve
Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours (or overnight) before serving to let the flavors meld together. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce before serving for added flavor.

Notes

  • For best results, let the cake chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  • This cake can be made a day ahead of time, making it perfect for parties and gatherings.
