Chai Spiced Tea is a fragrant, creamy beverage infused with a blend of aromatic spices, black tea, and milk. Perfect for warming up on a chilly day or adding a cozy touch to any gathering, this tea is a delightful treat that combines traditional chai flavors with a touch of optional vanilla for extra depth.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4–5 whole cloves
- 5–6 black peppercorns
- 3–4 cardamom pods
- 1 star anise (optional)
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
- 2 tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose black tea)
- 1 cup milk (any kind)
- 1–2 tablespoons honey or sugar (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Simmer the Spices: In a medium saucepan, combine the water, cinnamon stick, cloves, black peppercorns, cardamom pods, star anise (if using), and sliced ginger. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let the spices simmer for about 5 minutes to release their flavors.
- Add Tea and Milk: Add the tea bags (or loose tea) to the pot, followed by the milk. Let the mixture simmer for another 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.
- Sweeten and Strain: Stir in the honey or sugar, adjusting the sweetness to your liking. Remove from heat and strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer to remove the spices and tea bags.
- Add Vanilla (Optional): Stir in the vanilla extract if you want an extra layer of flavor.
- Serve: Pour the Chai Spiced Tea into mugs and enjoy it warm. Garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or a cinnamon stick if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preference.
- Use non-dairy milk for a vegan version.
- Add more spices if you prefer a stronger flavor.
