Description

These warm, buttery, and flaky cheddar biscuits are packed with cheesy goodness, making them the perfect side dish for your Thanksgiving feast. Ideal for soaking up gravy and sauces, these biscuits are sure to be a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the Butter:
Add the cubed cold butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add Cheese and Milk:
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Gradually add the milk, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  • Form the Biscuits:
Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
  • Serve:
Remove from the oven and serve warm. Optionally, brush the tops with melted butter for an extra buttery flavor.

Notes

  • These biscuits are best served fresh, but you can store them in an airtight container for 1-2 days and reheat them before serving.
  • For extra flavor, feel free to add herbs like garlic powder or rosemary to the dough.
  • For a more indulgent version, add extra cheese on top before baking.
  • You can make these biscuits ahead of time by preparing the dough and freezing it. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes of baking time.
  • These biscuits pair wonderfully with soups, stews, and salads as well as your Thanksgiving spread.
