Description

Cheeseburger Bowl is a deconstructed version of the classic cheeseburger, served in a bowl for a lighter, low-carb, and customizable option. With juicy ground beef, melty cheese, crisp lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and your favorite condiments, it’s a simple and delicious meal that captures all the flavors of a cheeseburger without the bun. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cheeseburger Bowl:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for a juicy texture)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or American cheese)
  • 2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle slices
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced (optional)

For the Cheeseburger Sauce (optional):

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from the pickle jar)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it apart with a spatula.
    • Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
    • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika (if using). Stir well to combine.
  2. Make the Cheeseburger Sauce (optional):
    • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Assemble the Cheeseburger Bowls:
    • In each serving bowl, layer chopped romaine lettuce as the base.
    • Add a generous scoop of the cooked ground beef on top of the lettuce.
    • Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese, and let the heat from the beef melt the cheese slightly.
    • Add halved cherry tomatoes, pickle slices, and red onion (if using).
  4. Drizzle with Sauce:
    • Drizzle with the prepared cheeseburger sauce (if using) or your favorite burger condiments like ketchup, mustard, or relish.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve immediately and enjoy the flavors of a cheeseburger in a lighter bowl form!

Notes

  • For a low-carb option, you can skip the sauce or use a low-carb version of ketchup and mustard.
  • You can add extra toppings like bacon, avocado, or sautéed mushrooms for an even richer flavor.
  • If you prefer a different cheese, feel free to swap cheddar with Swiss, mozzarella, or a blend of cheeses.
