Description

A fun and indulgent appetizer featuring crispy tater tot cones stuffed with seasoned cheeseburger filling, topped with a melted cheese โ€˜volcanoโ€™ for a gooey, crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups frozen tater tots
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup pickles, chopped (optional)
  • Ketchup and mustard for serving
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425ยฐF (220ยฐC). Grease a cone-shaped mold or use aluminum foil to create cones.
  2. Place tater tots on the cones, pressing them gently to form a shell around each cone.
  3. Bake tater tot cones for 25-30 minutes or until golden and crispy, turning halfway through.
  4. While cones bake, cook ground beef with chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.
  5. Remove cones from oven and carefully fill each with the cooked cheeseburger mixture. Add chopped pickles if desired.
  6. Top each cone generously with shredded cheddar cheese to create the โ€˜cheese volcano.โ€™
  7. Return cones to the oven for 5-7 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve hot with ketchup and mustard for dipping.

Notes

  • Use sturdy cones to hold the tater tots firmly.
  • Try different cheese blends like pepper jack or mozzarella for variation.
  • Add diced tomatoes or jalapeรฑos to the beef mix for extra flavor and heat.
