Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 1 (12 oz) package egg noodles (or your favorite pasta)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (if using chips for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
- Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, 1 cup cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Add the cooked chicken and cooked egg noodles to the bowl and mix gently until everything is evenly coated.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
- Top with the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese.
- If using the potato chip topping, mix the crushed chips with the melted butter and sprinkle over the top of the casserole. Alternatively, you can use breadcrumbs as a topping.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and low-fat versions of the soup and cheese.
- If you don’t have chicken soup, you can substitute it with cream of mushroom soup for a different flavor.
- This casserole is easily customizable. Add vegetables like peas, carrots, or broccoli for extra nutrition.
