  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Sloppy Joe Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¼ cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup water

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Make the Garlic Bread:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic salt. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves of the bread and set aside.
  • Cook the Sloppy Joe Filling:
    In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the chopped onions. Once cooked through, drain any excess fat. Add garlic powder, yellow mustard, ketchup, salt, pepper, and water to the beef mixture. Stir well and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the filling thickens and becomes saucy.
  • Assemble:
    Place the garlic bread halves on a baking sheet. Spread the Sloppy Joe mixture generously over each half. Top with shredded mozzarella and sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Bake & Serve:
    Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown. Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, slice into portions, and enjoy warm!
