- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup hot pepper jelly (for topping)

- In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, flour, butter, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the dough comes together.
- Roll the dough into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Use your thumb to make an indentation in the center of each dough ball.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and immediately spoon a small amount of hot pepper jelly into the indentation of each thumbprint.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- If you prefer a milder version, you can substitute the hot pepper jelly with a sweet pepper jelly or fruit preserves.
- You can experiment with different cheeses, such as gouda or pepper jack, to change up the flavor.
