Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup hot pepper jelly (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, flour, butter, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Use your thumb to make an indentation in the center of each dough ball.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately spoon a small amount of hot pepper jelly into the indentation of each thumbprint.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
