- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cans (21 ounces each) cherry pie filling
GLAZE:
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 to 3 tablespoons whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Beat in the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until well combined.
- Spread 3 cups of the dough into a greased 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
- Spread the cherry pie filling over the dough.
- Drop the remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over the filling.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- In a small bowl, mix together the confectioners’ sugar, extracts, and enough milk to reach the desired consistency for the glaze. Drizzle over the cooled bars.

- For best results, ensure the butter is softened to room temperature for easier creaming.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting.
